Need lil books

There was a call for largess & needle books last fall.  Time to try something new.  Not much prior experience with embroidery (& unsatisfying experience at that), but friends say to do it well requires practice.  I'm fairly happy with what happened.

More nalbinding

Still love nalbinding...made some pouches for largess and someone important suggested I add a drawstring, so ok, added monk's cord drawstrings in EK colors in cotton so they don't felt with the pouch wool when they're used.  Of course people don't need to use them as pouches--they're pretty decent coozies (remove cotton cord, use that for something else...)--why burn or freeze your fingers?  Wonder if felting would make an even better coozie, a thicker stitch certainly could and then felting that could.  Made some "business cards" to go with. And another hat.      Was on a zoom family meeting working on the hat below when a cousin asked "whatcha doin?"  Who can say no to an opening like that?!  I shared. New plants! Get yer new plants here!

It’s no secret that I LOVE plants.  Farming genes, a mom with a green thumb who shared her love of plants, and a passion for the outdoors/nature—I have many and can’t help growing more.  Want great food or eye candy without great cost?  Grow plants!   In winter I’m longing for green & over the top when plants stuck indoors (like me) surprise me with sudden bright colored blooms or tasty greens!  The pandemic found me me rooting new plants from store leftovers (the bottoms of celery, green onions, etc.) and growing new plants from cuttings.  They’s such joy in green things growing—especially when it’s not green outside.  If you’re not feeling the green gene, you can imagine my patient other half coping with ALL THE PLANTS.  Early spring happened and there were even more plants!  'Cuz, yes, I LOVE plants!  Couldn’t use them all myself, wanted them to have homes, and the prices of plants are ridiculous, so I had a thought.  Lo...

Art-a-fact

  Art-a-fact This small, whimsical light green/beige/gold pouch was a first attempt at weaving in the SCA.   And, yes, a fun, energizing moment of “Ooh—I made a thing!”   Very little idea of what I was doing.   Boldly made an attempt at making a small thing, fighting the innate desire for instant perfection and the built in avoidance of failure.   Thanks Web, for providing access to people who post to teach what they learn!   Had no loom so made a single-use cardboard one (cut up to release the object d’art).   The colors were what was available at hand in modern, inexpensive fibers (all I’d used at that point in attempts at knitting).   Read I needed strong fibers for the warp that wouldn’t break so had some strong black thread I figured made sense to use.   Didn’t consider these would be visible later…live and learn.   Threw in some loose dangly bits to give it some playfulness and joy, not considering medieval samples.   Weavi...
